About Hijabista Girls
Empowering Muslim Girls to Embrace Hijab With Confidence & Understanding
Assalam Alaikum and welcome.
I’m Samia Elkowessny — a mother, mentor, and the founder of the Hijabista Girls Program.
Hijabista Girls is an online Islamic mentorship program created to help Muslim girls develop a positive, confident relationship with hijab and their Islamic identity — especially while growing up in the West during challenging times.
My Hijab Journey
I grew up in Toronto, Canada, and began wearing hijab at the age of 11. Like many Muslim girls today, I faced questions, social pressure, and moments of uncertainty. Wearing hijab at a young age wasn’t always easy — and those early experiences shaped how deeply I care about how hijab is introduced to girls.
As I grew older, I continued seeking knowledge and grounding in my deen. I studied at Zad Academy, strengthening my Islamic foundation and approach to teaching. While I am not an alimah, I am a lifelong student of knowledge, a parent, and someone deeply committed to sharing Islam with sincerity, care, and responsibility.
How I Show Up for Girls
I believe that every interaction a girl has while learning about hijab matters. At this age, girls are like a white page — open, innocent, and eager to learn. Small moments become lasting memories, especially when it comes to something as personal as hijab.
I’m naturally optimistic, affectionate, and expressive, and I never underestimate how much kindness and attention can shape a young heart. Girls crave being seen and affirmed, and I’m very intentional about how I show up for them — because every positive encounter becomes part of how they view hijab.
That’s why I focus on creating a space that feels warm, safe, and relaxed. Even the little things matter. In my self-paced course, girls often meet my cat, Niki, during lessons — sometimes while I feed her treats. These simple moments help girls soften, smile, and feel at ease. When girls are comfortable, they’re more open to learning, and those feelings naturally become tied to their understanding of hijab.
I never forget that these early experiences can shape how a girl feels about hijab for years to come. Every smile, laugh, and gentle interaction is intentional — because it all contributes to the foundation we’re building.
Why I Created the Hijabista Girls Program
Today, as a mother of two — including a daughter — I understand the concerns many parents carry.
With the rise of Islamophobia, identity confusion, and social pressure, parents often wonder:
- Will my daughter feel confident wearing hijab?
- Will she feel supported or overwhelmed?
- How can I guide her without fear, pressure, or resentment?
The Hijabista Girls Program was created to support both girls and parents during this sensitive stage of life.
Rather than focusing only on rules, this live online program gently addresses the emotional, social, and practical challenges that can affect a girl’s decision to wear hijab. Each unit is designed to remove a layer of frustration, fear, or misunderstanding that can quietly build up over time.
Our goal is to make hijab feel approachable, supported, and meaningful — not heavy or forced.
Our Vision For Muslim Girls
Hijabista Girls is more than an online class — it’s a safe, supportive space where Muslim girls can grow with confidence.
All lessons are rooted in the Qur’an and Sunnah, presented in an age-appropriate and relatable way. Through live discussions, hands-on activities, and mentorship, girls are encouraged to:
- Build a strong Islamic foundation
- Develop confidence in their Muslim identity
- View hijab as a source of strength and self-respect
- Feel supported during a critical stage of personal and spiritual growth
This program is designed to meet girls where they are — emotionally, socially, and spiritually.
From One Parent to Another
Hijabista Girls exists because I am walking this journey too.
I know the worries that come with raising Muslim daughters today. I know the desire to protect them while also preparing them to stand confidently in their faith. This program was created with that balance in mind — gentle, thoughtful, and rooted in love.
My dua is that Allah (SWT) grants our daughters clarity, confidence, and love for their deen, and grants us wisdom as parents to guide them with compassion and strength.
You are not alone — and neither is your daughter.
See what girls and parents are saying about the Hijabista Girls program. Real experiences, real confidence, and real growth — all from families like yours.
